Privacy Policy

US Dentist Directory (“we”) operates usdentistdirectory.com. This policy explains what we collect and your choices.

Information we collect

Usage data via analytics cookies; approximate location only if you use the “Near Me” feature (processed in your browser); and any details you submit through our contact form.

Appointment requests

If you send an appointment request to a listed practice, we collect the details you type: your name, the phone number or email you want to be contacted at, an optional preferred time, and an optional short note. This information is shared only with the practice you selected, so it can respond to you; that is the sole purpose of processing it. Do not include medical, dental, insurance, payment, or other sensitive information in a request - these forms are not intended for it and we are not a healthcare provider.

Appointment requests are retained for up to 180 days and then deleted. To request earlier deletion, contact us with the practice name and the approximate date you sent the request.

First-party analytics

We log first-party click activity (such as page views and phone, website, and directions taps on listings) so we can tell business owners how their listing is performing. These events are sent to our own servers and stored by us. We do not store your IP address, your full browser user agent, or any identifier that names you: to stop counting the same person twice within a two-minute window we compute a short one-way hash of your IP and user agent, use it, and discard the inputs immediately. Events are only collected after you accept cookies, and never when Global Privacy Control is on. We do not sell or share this data with advertising partners.

Cookies & your choices

When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you Accept or Reject non-essential cookies; we remember your choice and only run analytics and click tracking if you accept. We also honor the browser’s Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal - if GPC is enabled, we do not run outbound-click tracking even if cookies were accepted.

Manage cookie choices: change your decision at any time on our cookie settings page.

Accounts and business claims

If you create an account we store your email address, a hashed password (we never see the plain text), and your email preference. If you claim a business listing we also store which listing you claimed, the verification method you used, and a one-way hash of the verification code we sent, so nobody can read a code back out of our database. Verification codes expire and are single use. We do not store the body of the automated verification message beyond what is needed to check it.

Content you publish through an owner dashboard (description, hours, services, photos, contact details) appears on the public listing page you manage, which is the point of the feature.

Email we send you

Account email (verification codes, password resets, and notifications about requests sent to a listing you own) is transactional and is sent because you asked for it or because you own the listing. If you hold an account you are also subscribed to our occasional business newsletter, which you can switch off at any time in your account settings or with the unsubscribe link in the email. Turning it off never affects your account or your claim.

Service providers

We do not sell your personal information. We use a small number of processors to run the site: Cloudflare (hosting, CDN, and bot protection), Supabase (database and authentication, hosted in the United States), and Resend (outgoing email). They process data on our instructions only. Map tiles and address lookups used by the Near Me feature are requested by your browser from open map services.

Retention

Appointment requests: up to 180 days. Click and view events: kept in aggregate for listing statistics. Account and claim records: for as long as the account exists. You can delete your account and its data from your account settings.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit, passwords are hashed, verification codes are stored only as one-way hashes, and access to the database is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a unique password.

Children

This site is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on the site.

Advertising

We may display third-party ads. Ad partners may use cookies to personalize ads. Under the CCPA/CPRA, sharing data with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising may be considered a “sale” or “share.”

Your privacy rights - Do Not Sell or Share

If you are a California (or other covered-state) resident, you have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, and to know, delete, and correct it. To opt out, adjust your browser’s Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, which we honor, or contact us. We do not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. Full details and all opt-out controls are on our Do Not Sell or Share page.
