How to verify your listing
Claiming a listing proves to us that you manage the business, so only you can edit its profile. Every method below is free and takes a few minutes. Start from your listing page: open it, choose Claim this listing, log in or create a free account, and the claim screen shows you exactly which of these options your listing qualifies for.
Option 1: Instant verification with your work email
The fastest route, with nothing to type. If you sign up (or log in) with an email address at your business's own website domain, we approve the claim automatically the moment you open the claim page.
- Example: your website is
yourpractice.com, so create your account withyou@yourpractice.com. - Confirm your email with the 6-digit signup code we send you.
- Open your listing and choose Claim this listing. The claim is approved on the spot, no code needed.
Works when your listing shows a website and that website's domain belongs to just your practice (not a chain or a site builder).
Option 2: A code to any work email
Your account is on Gmail or another personal address? No problem. On the claim screen, pick Verify with a work email and type any address at your business's website domain (for example frontdesk@yourpractice.com). We email a 6-digit code there; enter it and the listing is yours.
Option 3: A code to the business email we found
If your practice publishes a contact email on its own website, the claim screen offers to send the code to that address, shown partially masked (like i***o@yourpractice.com). Choose it, check that inbox, and enter the code.
Option 4: Text or call to the business phone
When available, we can text a 6-digit code to the phone number published on your listing, or place an automated call that reads the code out loud (useful for landlines). Someone at the front desk simply reads you the code. If the number reaches a switchboard, choose the call option.
Option 5: DNS record (no email or phone needed)
Best when your practice has its own website but you have no inbox on the domain. You add one small TXT record at the company where your domain is registered; that is something only the domain's real owner can do, so it counts as full proof.
- On the claim screen, open Add a DNS record to your domain and then press Get my verification record. You get a value that looks like
dd-verify=1a2b3c.... Copy it. - Log in at your domain registrar, the company where the domain is managed (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, Squarespace, ...). Not sure which one? Your web designer or the person who set up your website will know, and the record below is safe for them to add for you: it does not affect your website or email.
- Find DNS settings (sometimes called DNS management or Zone editor) and add a new record:
- Type: TXT
- Host / Name:
@(some registrars want this blank, or your bare domain) - Value / Content: the
dd-verify=...value you copied - TTL: leave the default
- Save, wait a few minutes, and press Check my DNS record back on the claim screen. New records usually appear within minutes but can take up to an hour. Your verification record stays valid for 7 days, so it is fine to come back later.
- Once verified, you can delete the TXT record, or leave it, it does nothing else.
Registrar quick paths
- GoDaddy: My Products, then your domain, then DNS, then Add New Record. Type TXT, Name
@, paste the value. - Namecheap: Domain List, then Manage, then Advanced DNS, then Add New Record. Type TXT Record, Host
@, paste the value. - Cloudflare: pick the domain, then DNS, then Add record. Type TXT, Name
@, paste the value into Content. - Squarespace Domains: Domains, then your domain, then DNS settings, then Custom records, then Add record. Type TXT, Host
@. - Wix / GoDaddy-hosted sites: the DNS lives wherever the domain was bought, which may be a different company than the site builder. Check the purchase email for the domain.
Not listed yet? Add your practice with a Google link
If you cannot find your practice on US Dentist Directory, you can add it in about a minute with your Google Business Profile link:
- Open your practice in Google Maps (on your phone: search for your practice, then tap Share, then Copy link).
- Go to Add your practice, paste the link, and submit. We create the listing from your public Google Business Profile.
- You land straight on the claim screen for the new listing, verify with any option above.
None of these work?
Ask for manual verification on the claim screen. A person reviews the listing and contacts the business through the phone number or email it publishes itself. We never ask for identity documents.
